About

Lisa Whitt focuses her practice on a wide range of real estate and business transactions. Drawing on more than a decade of experience in real estate development and compliance prior to her legal career, she brings a valuable understanding of the business, operational, and management realities that drive the dynamics of business and property transactions.

Lisa has advised clients on high-profile real estate transactions, including a variety of affordable housing development projects, in concert with the firm’s Affordable Housing and Community Development Practice. Her work includes structuring and negotiating the acquisition, development, leasing, and sale of commercial and residential real estate, with substantial expertise on issues specific to tribal governments, school districts, and municipalities.

With a lifelong interest in land conservation, Lisa brings a dedicated perspective to structure and close complex land conservation transactions. Clients appreciate her keen eye for the practical concerns of land trusts and other nonprofit entities, as well as donors and funders.

Lisa’s commercial transaction practice covers the full spectrum of the business cycle, from business formation, lending transactions, and commercial contracts to sales and mergers. Lisa provides the know-how and creative problem-solving to efficiently execute complex transactions while efficiently carrying out her clients’ business objectives.

Lisa’s expertise has been recognized at both the regional and national levels. She was named a “Rising Star” each year since 2015 by New England Super Lawyers in the real estate and business/corporate practices and was named Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” in real estate law.

In her free time, Lisa enjoys hiking and exploring the outdoors with her family and dogs. She is committed to community involvement, having served for many years as a board member for Shalom House and as a member of its housing committee, and having previously served on the board of the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition.
