About

Abigail Silsby is an attorney in the School Law, Labor and Employment, and Higher Education Groups at Drummond Woodsum. She advises a wide range of clients – including  schools, colleges, municipalities, nonprofits, and private entities – on complex legal issues.

Abby counsels clients on employment law matters involving employment discrimination and harassment, disability accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), whistleblower and retaliation claims, grievance and arbitration proceedings, and wage and hour issues. She also provides proactive guidance to help clients navigate and comply with evolving federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.

Abby represents K-12 public school districts throughout Maine, advising on a broad spectrum of legal and regulatory issues.  Her school law practice includes general school law, Title IX compliance, policy development, student discipline, Maine’s Freedom of Access Act, and other state and federal laws governing public school operations.

In addition to advising clients, Abby serves as a neutral, external investigator. In this role, she conducts investigations and issues factual findings concerning workplace misconduct, including allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination, and financial misconduct. She also assists clients with developing policies and procedures to prevent misconduct from taking place, and to effectively address and resolve any misconduct that may have occurred.

A native of Maine, Abby enjoys spending time outside with her husband and dog.
