John-Michael Speranza is an attorney specializing in tax law with the Business Services Group at Drummond Woodsum. He works with small and large businesses, financial

institutions, and investors on various taxation issues including corporate, partnership, and individual. Past client experience includes transactional work for domestic and international energy and real estate companies, and mergers and acquisitions transactions for clients including private equity funds, and publicly traded companies in the energy, real estate, entertainment, transportation and hospitality sectors.

Prior to joining Drummond Woodsum, John-Michael was a United States Tax Court law clerk, worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers on Mergers and Acquisitions, and was in the General Counsel’s office at a large energy firm. John-Michael received his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center and received the Houston Bar Association Trusts and Estates Section Award as a student. He received an LLM in Taxation from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern University. He is a member of the Illinois Bar Association, Washington DC Bar Association, Maine Bar Association, and the American Bar Association Section of Taxation. In addition, John-Michael graduated from the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School and was a volunteer firefighter on Islesboro for several years.

When considering Drummond and Woodsum, John-Michael shared that he admires the people and culture coupled with the quality of work the firm is known for. Outside of work, John-Michael enjoys sailing, being on the water, working on old cars and live music. His father was a chef and John-Michael shares his love of food and cooking.
