About

As a member of the firm’s Employment and Labor and School Law practice groups, Blake McCartney advises public and private employers on all aspects of employment and labor law.  Blake is passionate about helping clients solve people-centered issues and brings an empathetic approach to her practice, allowing her to anticipate client needs and concerns and proactively address potential conflicts.

Blake’s practice encompasses a range of services, including conducting school and workplace investigations, representing clients before the Maine Human Rights Commission (MHRC) and the Bureau of Unemployment Compensation, assisting with the collective bargaining process, and conducting comprehensive policy and handbook reviews.

During her time in law school, Blake served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Maine Law Review, worked as a student attorney at the University’s Refugee and Human Rights Clinic, and completed a federal judicial externship.  After law school and before joining Drummond Woodsum, Blake served as a law clerk for Chief Justice Stanfill of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

Outside of her legal practice, Blake enjoys staying active through running, skiing, and biking.  She values time spent with her husband, family, and friends, and loves exploring Portland’s trail system with her Portuguese Water Dog, Stevie.
