Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC) opens the Seaport Community Health Center in Belfast, Maine

Congratulations to Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC) on the opening of their Seaport Community Health Center (SCHC) in Belfast, Maine. Located on Schoodic Drive, the new center is more than twice the size of its previous location and is currently open to patients.

Seaport Community Health Center has served the Belfast and Waldo County Community as part of PCHC since 2013 and offers family medicine, mental health services, care management and more.

Attorney Edward (Ted) J. Kelleher said, “We are a proud partner of Penobscot Community Health Care and are pleased they are now able to offer their accessible, quality care to even more patients.”

The goal of PCHC is to provide access to affordable, quality, health care for both insured and uninsured patients. They aim to keep their Maine communities healthy by focusing on prevention and health care management rather than treating with emergency room and inpatient services.

With approximately 58,000 patients, 70% of whom are lower-income and seniors, Penobscot Community Health Care is the largest of Maine’s 20 federally qualified health centers and the second largest of the 100 FQHCs in New England. They offer financial assistance through their

Sliding Fee Program, which is based on income, family size, and ability to pay. Last year alone, PCHC provided $4.3 million in uncompensated care.
