Project Development – Tax Credit Syndication Attorney
Portland, Maine

Drummond Woodsum seeks an attorney with 5 plus years of relevant law firm experience to join its growing affordable housing and community development team. The successful candidate will be based out of the firm’s Portland, Maine office. The group’s practice involves affordable housing and other community development transactions, including representation of developers and funders in significant low-income housing tax credit and HUD transactions, historic tax credit transactions, new market tax credit transactions, and other public-private partnership transactions primarily in Maine and New Hampshire. Candidates with experience in these areas are encouraged to apply.

Real Estate Attorney
Portland, Maine

Drummond Woodsum seeks a real estate attorney with 2+ years of law firm practice experience to join its busy real estate and project development practice at its Portland, Maine offices. The firm’s real estate practice involves representation of clients requiring assistance with all aspects of real estate acquisition, permitting, development and sale, including work for leading conservation organizations, affordable housing developers, solar project developers, school districts, municipalities and individuals. The successful candidate must be proactive, with a strong work ethic and the ability to effectively manage internal and external client and counsel relationships.

Candidates applying for attorney positions with Drummond Woodsum should have outstanding academic credentials, comparable law firm or relevant government practice experience, at least two letters of reference, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Maine bar admission is strongly preferred.

Administrative Assistant
Portland, ME

Drummond Woodsum is seeking a full-time assistant to join its Administration team. Duties will be varied, as the Admin team is ultimately responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the firm.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting conflict check searches – generating reports to identify any potential conflicts that may prohibit matter acceptance for attorneys to review
  • Entering new client/matter information into a database system
  • Filing
  • Mail processing
  • Reconciling firm bank accounts and petty cash
  • Firm credit card processing and reconciliations
  • Completing edits and entries for electronic billing clients

Qualifications:

  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Corporate Paralegal
Portland, ME

Drummond Woodsum is seeking a full-time Corporate Paralegal to join our Portland, ME office. This position will provide a range of support for attorneys in our Business Services Group.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting business entity formation documents
  • Preparing, reviewing, analyzing, and organizing documents in connection with a wide range of complex corporate transactions
  • Managing the records of the firm’s extensive list of business clients
  • Coordinate the filing of annual reports in Maine and other various states
  • Managing requests for various state certifications and filings
  • Interacting with clients on requests for materials in the firm’s records
  • Assisting in the closing of various transactions including drafting closing documents and certificates, and the organization and circulation of closing documents
  • Coordinate replying to audit request letters received by the firm

Qualifications & Position Expectations:

  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team through effective communication strategies
  • Ability to manage workflow and work under tight deadlines with competing and shifting priorities
  • Energetic, organized, detail-oriented, and a willingness to work hard
  • Ability to bill 1300 hours annually towards the firm’s paralegal billing expectation
  • Previous experience handling general corporate and other business transactions

Attorney, Labor & Employment and School Law
Portland, ME

Drummond Woodsum’s Portland, Maine office is looking for an attorney to join both our labor and employment and school law practice groups. Our labor and employment and school law practice groups represent a variety of public schools, non-profit organizations, Tribes, and private sector businesses throughout Maine and nationally. Attorneys in these groups provide advice and representation in all areas of employment law, student rights, federal Tribal rights, policy analysis, collective bargaining, computer and technology, employee benefits, counseling on employee relations issues, and representing employers in employment-related litigation.

This position is open to qualified applicants who have excellent academic credentials, research, writing, and analytical skills, and are highly motivated to learn. We are looking for a candidate who has effective interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence, and who will be able to balance top-notch client advocacy with compassion and understanding. Drummond Woodsum seeks a trial attorney to join our growing and dynamic medical malpractice defense team, working out of our Portland office. Preferred candidates will have 5+ years of litigation experience, with medical malpractice experience a plus. General Corporate and Business Attorney
Portland, ME or Manchester, NH

Drummond Woodsum is seeking an attorney with 4+ years’ experience to join its business services practice at its Portland or Manchester office. This position will involve a broad range of work, including entity formation and capitalization, commercial agreements, and mergers and acquisitions. This position will also work closely with our regulated substances practice to provide corporate and business law advice to businesses engaged in the cultivation, manufacturing, and sale of medical and adult-use marijuana and hemp.

The successful candidate must be proactive, with a strong work ethic and the ability to effectively manage internal and external client and counsel relationships.
