Medical Malpractice Paralegal
Portland, Maine

Drummond Woodsum is seeking a full-time medical malpractice paralegal to join its litigation team, working out of our Portland, ME office.

Responsibilities include:

    • Assisting attorneys to prepare for client meetings, depositions, panel hearings, court appearances, and trials;
    • Assisting attorneys with the discovery process, including obtaining, organizing, analyzing, and summarizing medical records;
    • Preparing deposition summaries;
    • Communicating and coordinating with clients, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses.

Qualifications and position expectations:

    • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team;
    • Strong written and oral communication skills;
    • Ability to manage workflow and work under tight deadlines with competing and shifting priorities;
    • Familiarity with and ability to operate trial management software, Zoom, Excel, and other similar software programs;
    • Energetic, organized, and detail-oriented; and
    • Willingness to bill 1300 hours annually towards the firm’s billable hour expectation for paralegals.

Project Development – Tax Credit Syndication Attorney
Portland, Maine

Drummond Woodsum seeks an attorney with 5 plus years of relevant law firm experience to join its growing affordable housing and community development team. The successful candidate will be based out of the firm’s Portland, Maine office. The group’s practice involves affordable housing and other community development transactions, including representation of developers and funders in significant low-income housing tax credit and HUD transactions, historic tax credit transactions, new market tax credit transactions, and other public-private partnership transactions primarily in Maine and New Hampshire. Candidates with experience in these areas are encouraged to apply. Candidates applying for attorney positions with Drummond Woodsum should have outstanding academic credentials, comparable law firm experience, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Real Estate Attorney
Portland, Maine

Drummond Woodsum seeks a real estate attorney with 2+ years of law firm practice experience to join its busy real estate and project development practice at its Portland, Maine offices. The firm’s real estate practice involves representation of clients requiring assistance with all aspects of real estate acquisition, permitting, development and sale, including work for leading conservation organizations, affordable housing developers, solar project developers, school districts, municipalities and individuals. The successful candidate must be proactive, with a strong work ethic and the ability to effectively manage internal and external client and counsel relationships. Candidates applying for attorney positions with Drummond Woodsum should have outstanding academic credentials, comparable law firm or relevant government practice experience, at least two letters of reference, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Maine bar admission is strongly preferred.

General Corporate and Business Attorney
Portland, Maine or Manchester, New Hampshire

Drummond Woodsum is seeking an attorney with 4+ years’ experience to join its business services practice at its Portland or Manchester office. This position will involve a broad range of work, including entity formation and capitalization, commercial agreements, and mergers and acquisitions. This position will also work closely with our regulated substances practice to provide corporate and business law advice to businesses engaged in the cultivation, manufacturing, and sale of medical and adult-use marijuana and hemp. The successful candidate must be proactive, with a strong work ethic and the ability to effectively manage internal and external client and counsel relationships. Candidates applying for attorney positions with Drummond Woodsum should have outstanding academic credentials, comparable law firm experience, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Maine and/or New Hampshire bar admission is preferred.

Trust and Estate Planning Attorney

The candidate should have 7+ years of experience with a focus on estate planning, tax planning, and trusts and estates administration in Maine or New Hampshire.  Drummond Woodsum is a growing professional services firm with a collaborative and supportive culture that makes it a highly desirable place to practice law. Public Finance Attorney
Portland, Maine

Drummond Woodsum seeks a new or lateral associate attorney to join the Public Finance practice in our Portland office. This practice overlaps with our general School Law and Municipal Law practice areas, but focuses on advising and assisting school districts and municipalities throughout Maine on bond financing, related federal tax compliance, business transactions of many kinds, school budget approval, school district organizational matters, and municipal tax increment financing.  The successful candidate is an individual determined to become a leading practitioner in these areas of the law by broadening and honing their writing, analytical, and speaking skills. The lawyer for this position must not just draft technical documents, but also provide sound guidance to public sector clients. A high level of collegiality is expected.
