Melissa Hewey is Appointed to the Judicial Nominations Advisory Committee by Governor Mills

Governor Janet Mills recently signed an Executive Order creating a Judicial Nominations Advisory Committee and named its nine members including Drummond Woodsum attorney Melissa Hewey.  The Governor’s Judicial Nominations Advisory Committee will evaluate and advise Governor Mills on potential candidates for judicial appointments and reappointments. In addition to addressing judicial reappointments, the Committee will deal with one vacancy each in the District and Superior Courts.

Melissa Hewey is a trial lawyer with a practice focusing on school and municipal litigation, employment, higher education and general commercial litigation. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.  Among other things, Melissa has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America for over ten years, she was named Maine’s Education Lawyer of the Year in 2014 and  Maine’s Best Lawyer of the Year in the category of Employment Law-Management in 2012 and she has  been recognized by Benchmark Litigation as a Litigation Star and as one of the Top 250 Women in Litigation nationwide.
