Double Trouble: Discipline/Abbreviated School Days & Truancy/Non-Attending Students
Only Drummond Woodsum’s Special Education Team would take on in one sitting the two most difficult student issues faced by schools at this time! In this full day conference, your presenters will fully address the complex legal and practical issues that face school administrators trying to maintain good order in the schools, while also addressing student non-attendance and the host of laws and requirements that impact intervention for that population of student. In the course of the day, the Drummond Team will discuss:
- A primer on student discipline laws
- Special education discipline
- Essential new laws and rules on abbreviated school days
- Maine’s truancy law
- Special education child find and truancy
- Special education programming and truancy
In addition to the above, we are thrilled to have joining our day Dr. Rebekah Bickford, a renowned licensed psychologist in Maine, who will address interventions and behavior plans for non-attending students, and also the pros and cons of abbreviated school days. Now more than ever, this is NOT to be missed!!! This conference is for anyone involved in special education, and anyone who has to address student behaviors in school. Come as a school-based team and then discuss implications when you get back to your school!
