Drummond Woodsum Names David Kallin as New Managing Director

October 6, 2025

Drummond Woodsum is pleased to announce the appointment of attorney David M. Kallin as the firm’s new Managing Director, effective October 1.  Kallin succeeds Bill Stockmeyer, who has led the firm’s recent growth during a dynamically evolving legal market.

A co-leader of the firm’s Land Use & Conservation Practice Group, Kallin brings over a decade of deep experience in administrative law.  His expertise spans complex legal matters, including land use, environmental law, tribal law, and municipal governance. A former oceanographer and long-distance hiker, Kallin applies a scientific mindset and long-view perspective to both his legal work and his leadership.

“David’s thoughtful, strategic leadership and his collaborative approach to problem-solving make him the right person to lead Drummond Woodsum into a future in which law, technology, and culture will intersect and change society in new and as yet undetermined ways,” said Stockmeyer. “His ability to navigate complex issues while keeping client needs front and center is exactly what the firm and our clients need moving forward.”

Before practicing law, Kallin earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and later graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law, where he was awarded the Shur-Frinsko Award for excellence in municipal law and governance.

Stockmeyer will continue his public finance practice at Drummond Woodsum, focusing on advising Maine schools and municipalities.

“Bill’s leadership has been instrumental in continuing to shape our culture of excellence, integrity, and client service,” said Kallin. “It’s a privilege to follow in his footsteps and to continue building on the values that define Drummond Woodsum.”
