David Backer is Elected President of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K Board of Directors
Drummond Woodsum is pleased to announce that attorney David Backer has been elected President of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K, Inc. Board of Directors. The TD Beach to Beacon 10K road race, now in its 22nd year, is held in Cape Elizabeth on the first Saturday in August.
David been a member of the Board of Directors of TD Beach to Beacon 10K, Inc. since 2001 and has served as legal counsel to the Board since that time. The race was founded by Joan Benoit Samuelson, winner of the first women’s Olympic marathon at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, has a national reputation as one of the top 10K road races in the country, and regularly draws some of the best athletes in the world. The race has $90,000+ in total prize money for winners in specific categories and the race supports a different Maine charity each year by providing a $30,000 donation from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank.
David is Drummond Woodsum’s Practice Group Leader for Trust and Estate Planning where he focuses on trust and estate planning and administration. He is an elected Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. David also serves as Chair of Maine’s Probate and Trust Law Advisory Commission, charged with conducting a continuing study of the probate and trust laws in Maine and making recommendations to the Legislature for improvements in Maine’s probate and trust laws.
