CNN Quotes Toby McGrath in Report on Mills-Platner Dustup
March 25, 2026
Toby McGrath, head of Drummond Woodsum’s Government Relations & Campaigns Practice, spoke to CNN last week about the increasingly contentious primary battle between Maine Democratic Senate candidates Janet Mills and Graham Plater.
“He’s still attracting 600, 700 people like he was before, which, having been in Maine politics for nearly 25 years now, I have never seen that in any primary election,” McGrath said of Platner. “I think Graham Platner has a lot more upside in the general election, potentially more downside. And I think that, you know, we’re in the margins when it’s the governor and the senator.”
McGrath, who leads Drummond Woodsum Strategic Consulting, has managed or consulted on campaigns in over 30 states, including serving as Campaign Manager for Senator King and State Director for President Obama in 2008 and 2012.
