About

Mike Malaguti is an attorney at Drummond Woodsum with extensive experience in both private practice and municipal management. His diverse background enables him to provide unique, practical legal counsel to elected officials, employees, and boards, helping municipalities navigate complex legal, business, and political challenges. Known for his clear communication, Mike effectively engages with diverse audiences, including the public, planners and engineers, , and local leaders. A creative problem-solver, he focuses on finding innovative solutions that help clients achieve their goals.

Mike’s career includes nearly three years as Town Manager for Londonderry, New Hampshire, one of the state’s largest and fastest-growing towns, and four years as Assistant Town Solicitor. In these roles, he led complex initiatives, managed crisis situations, and navigated the intricacies of local governance.

As Town Manager, Mike spearheaded Londonderry’s response to the PFAS crisis, securing $8 million in grant funding to extend a water main and advocating for a $2.95 million PFAS remediation loan. He also played a central role in key economic development projects, including securing sewer capacity for Woodmont Commons, negotiating a PILOT agreement with New Balance, shepherding the “Village on Technology Hill” development, and drafting and successfully advocating for Londonderry’s Commercial and Industrial Tax Incentive Program. Additionally, Mike implemented vital risk management and compliance improvements across several areas, including wage and hour regulations, MS4 stormwater compliance, and cybersecurity. Mike has also led significant conservation efforts, overseeing the protection of Lithia Springs, Merrill Hill, and an iconic apple orchard in Londonderry. He worked closely with the Conservation Commission to protect hundreds of acres of farmland, forests, wetlands, and habitats.

An experienced advocate in state legislation, Mike was instrumental in the passage of HB 1002, which shields municipalities from overbroad public records requests, and he worked successfully to oppose HB 1069, which would have vastly expanded who can submit such requests. He also drafted and testified on SB 589, which allows Londonderry to purchase vital sewer capacity from the Town of Derry for the Exit 4A area, and he advocated for SB 471, which enables the Department of Transportation to lower speed limits on dangerous rural highways.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and two rescue Korean Jindos. He is passionate about running, gardening, cooking, baking bread, and reading nonfiction. Mike is also active in his community as a Trustee for the Alexander Eastman Foundation, which supports the health and wellness of the Greater Derry community through leadership, collaboration, and funding opportunities.
