Drummond Woodsum Attorney Jeremy Fischer Invited to Join the American College of Bankruptcy

Drummond Woodsum is proud to announce that attorney Jeremy R. Fischer, Leader of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice Group, has been accepted as a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. This prestigious honor recognizes his exceptional contributions to the field of bankruptcy and insolvency law.

The American College of Bankruptcy is an esteemed public service association composed of U.S. and international insolvency professionals. Founded in 1989, the College acknowledges outstanding professionals for their dedication to the administration of justice, public service, and integrity. As a Fellow, Fischer will join a distinguished group committed to enhancing professionalism and diversity within the profession.

“I am honored to be invited to join the American College of Bankruptcy,” said Fischer. “This honor not only highlights my commitment to the field but also reflects the hard work and dedication of my colleagues at Drummond Woodsum. I look forward to collaborating with fellow professionals to further advance our collective mission in bankruptcy law.”

Jeremy specializes in litigation and transactions involving distressed commercial matters, guiding clients from the first signs of trouble through complex financial restructurings and Chapter 11 cases. Recognized as one of the top practitioners in the state, he has built a reputation for achieving exceptional results both in the courtroom and at the negotiating table.

His expertise extends to advising major constituencies in high-stakes Chapter 11 cases, including financial institutions, bondholders, official and ad hoc creditors’ committees, asset purchasers, trustees, DIP lenders, directors/officers, and debtors. He also represents parties in out-of-court debt restructurings, receiverships, and asset and loan sale transactions, with particular expertise in the healthcare and long-term care sectors.

Beyond his legal practice, Jeremy is deeply involved in the legal community. He regularly provides pro bono representation to indigent individuals in bankruptcy cases and has taught at the University of Maine School of Law. He serves on the Board of Directors of the American Bankruptcy Institute, speaks regularly on bankruptcy topics, and authored a treatise on bankruptcy practice and procedure.

Before joining Drummond Woodsum, Jeremy served three terms in the Maine Legislature, including as House Chairman of the Appropriations Committee. Since leaving office, he has focused on public education and rural economic development issues. He is the board chair for Jobs for Maine’s Graduates, a non-profit that supports at-risk public school students and advises the Governor on early childhood issues, including pre-K program expansion. He also chairs the Loring Development Authority, promoting economic development in Maine’s northernmost county.

The induction ceremony for the Thirty-Sixth Class of Fellows will take place on March 21, 2025, at the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery Atrium in Washington, D.C., where Jeremy will officially become a Fellow.

Drummond Woodsum congratulates Jeremy on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to his continued contributions to the firm and the broader legal community.
