About

Jane Taylor focuses her practice on municipal law, with significant concentration in insurance, right to know, contracts and municipal operations.

Jane helps clients negotiate resolutions to many conflicts that could have otherwise resulted in serious negative (including financial) consequences. Jane brings her inquisitive nature to her clients and colleagues – asking “why” to deeply understand all sides of the issue. She enjoys helping her clients with problem solving, especially since most are looking to prevent an anticipated issue from coming to fruition or prevent it from getting worse. She also helps clients with document reviews and document creation – including contracts, settlements, ordinances, regulations, and real estate.

Prior to Drummond Woodsum, Jane served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives where she was responsible for several election laws that limited conflicts of interest between candidates for office and election officials, as well as providing some of the foundation for today’s water quality regulations, and a prohibition on charging fees for calling emergency services (before cell phones and E911). She was also general counsel for the former Peerless Insurance Company (now absorbed into Liberty Mutual) and was previously the Claremont (N.H.) City Solicitor.

In her free time, Jane enjoys politics, all music (especially the cello and opera), baseball, reading, and is working on making her “brown thumb” a bit greener in her garden. Jane has three adult children and one grandchild.

Jane is also passionate about land conservation and is a member of the Monadnock Conservancy Board of Trustees. She also serves on the Keene (NH) Zoning Board of Adjustment and is the Board Chair of Bach With Verse – a NH-based non-profit with a mission of bringing classical music to underserved populations internationally, as well as to prisons and schools in the US.  Jane has also received the N.H. Jewish Federation’s Shem Tov Award for service to the local Jewish community.
