Alix Caulfield is the Leader of the firm’s Commercial Finance Group and is widely regarded as one of the finest commercial finance transactional lawyers in Maine. Alix has 30 years of experience and has closed hundreds of commercial transactions in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, including commercial real estate, construction and financing of operating businesses, mergers and acquisitions, and purchases of significant assets by businesses. Her financial services clients include a full spectrum of national banks, community banks, and credit unions, and she represents corporations, buyers, sellers, and borrowers across a variety of industries. Significantly, Alix is one of two attorneys in Maine certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to handle SBA 504 closing transactions for Community Development Company (CDC) Lenders in Maine and Massachusetts, and Alix has extensive experience closing various types of SBA loan transactions for both CDCs and lenders.
Examples of transactions that Alix has handled include closing a loan transaction involving large shopping centers in five different states for an insurance company, closing several loans involving ESOP financing on behalf of both lenders and borrowers, representing lenders in closing loans for large construction projects throughout Maine including the Scarborough Downs project, and numerous SBA 7(a) and SBA 504 loans.
In her free time, Alix enjoys being with her family, gardening, reading, and quilting. She is also a competitive swimmer and has swum the Peaks to Portland ocean race 17 times.
