Drummond Woodsum Remembers Lynn Donohue

It is with great sadness that we remember our colleague and friend, Lynn Donohue.

Lynn was a talented attorney, a dedicated advocate for her clients, an enthusiastic member of our community, and, above all, a kind and thoughtful person. Those who worked alongside her knew her as diligent, conscientious, hardworking, and extraordinarily reliable. She cared deeply about doing the right thing and brought that commitment to everything she did.

As a real estate attorney at Drummond Woodsum, Lynn represented developers, investors, lenders, and housing authorities in complex commercial and residential real estate transactions. She approached her practice as a practical problem-solver and pursued her clients’ interests with determination and care. But describing Lynn only through her work as an attorney would leave out so much of what made her special.

Lynn was someone who showed up.

She showed up for her clients, working tirelessly to solve problems and chase down the details others might miss. She showed up for her colleagues, taking the time to ask how they were doing, offer help, or simply stop by to say, “Happy Monday.” And she showed up for her community.

Lynn joined Drummond Woodsum’s Community Service Committee shortly after arriving at the firm and became one of its most enthusiastic volunteers. For four consecutive years, she led teams of firm volunteers at Partners for World Health during Community Service Week and later joined the organization’s Board. She also participated in drives benefiting Maine Needs, local food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community organizations. Whatever the task, Lynn brought the same care and attention she brought to her legal work.

Her kindness often appeared in quieter ways. A plant might unexpectedly appear on a colleague’s desk after a special occasion, with no note identifying who had left it. A small office Christmas tree might mysteriously acquire ornaments. Lynn didn’t need recognition for doing something thoughtful; she simply noticed people and found ways to let them know she cared.

Lynn brought warmth and humor to the everyday rhythms of life at Drummond Woodsum. She had a wonderfully dry, sometimes sarcastic sense of humor and loved sharing stories about her travels, family, and especially her beloved cats, Mickey and Molly. A colleague having a difficult day could often count on Lynn stopping by with their latest photo or adventure and a reason to smile.

One colleague described Lynn as “the kind of person you want to have as a coworker: kind, generous, thoughtful, and reliable.” That captures the Lynn we knew.

She was smart and determined, frank and funny, compassionate and generous. She cared about getting things right, and she cared deeply about the people around her. We are grateful that Lynn was part of Drummond Woodsum and part of our lives. We will miss her friendship, her dry wit, her kindness, and, of course, the latest adventures of Mickey and Molly.

Lynn will be deeply missed.
